The left picture - Steve shows me how to do a basic epoxy mix.
The Right picture - The starboard hull, at the base of the new extension keel, the red area awaits sanding after filler had been worked into the surface.

Steve Turner returned to the UK today having successfully managed to oversee the construction of our new keel shoes. They certainly look extremely robust! Our keel now have the original stainless steel keel band, of some 3 x 25mm, added below is a hardwood strip 25 x 50 cm, this is secured by three layers of glass fibre/epoxy onto the hull, and finally a 3 x 50 mm steel keel band. Steve had Fae and I well under control. Steve passed on some of his tips which he had learnt the hard way over many years. We would not have attempted this without him being here. During all the above work the weather has been superb. Our only problem was one day when the wind flapped the wet glass cloth, which we were trying to bond onto the hull, like washing in the breeze. The marina staff tell us the weather has been nearly 10 C above normal, this was ideal for our project. Steve was unsure which airport in Athens he would be leaving from as the Greek President opened the new Athens airport this morning. The new International one is now much further out of Athens and is said to be very impressive.

We now have a number of jobs to do and at last launch day seems in sight.
Here is one of the many beautiful sunsets we have seen from our boat while being ashore at Preveza Marine. Astern of the boat is a road then immediately the river and on the opposite bank is the large town of Preveza.
