This is the unit that can be reconfigured to tow a propeller in the water. In that mode it produces its most efficient output of some 1 amp per knot of boat speed.

Wind WNW Gusting over 30 knts
At midnight last night there was a crecendo of fireworks, all during the day bangers have been going off, some large some small as well as a few rockets. It was a fight to be heard between the rain and the gunpowder. However, this morning the winner is clear, it's the wind and a howling gale! The wind generator is putting in up to 6 amps in the gusts so we should be OK for power even if we don't see the sun. It will be a struggle up the hill to Lizzies, in oilskins, for the Easter lamb BBQ.
The wind is inconsistent as it hurtles around the island, first its still then it screams in the rigging. This gale was predicted so last night we fixed our chains and metal springs to the main mooring ropes, these take out the snatch loads on the ropes and reduce wear and the likelihood of any breakage in the ropes. It's a cool 10.8C. Dark black clouds hide the mountains and even the sheltered bay has wavelets.
