The day before yesterday we were unable to find a free space in Methana so motored over to the beautiful town and safe anchorage of Poros. At 07.30 yesterday Malcolm left on one of the amazing hydrofoils for a last day in Athens then the flight back to the UK and his University job.

It seemed that we had done so much since leaving Preveza only two weeks ago.

Poros is very attractive and Tirla is moored on the North Quay. This is OK in calm weather and or high winds from the south but is subject to significant ferry wash. Poros is like a mini ferry "Heathrow"! There are many ferries every day as well as Saronic cruise ships, hydrofoils, fast catamarans etc. Its all well organised with maximum use made of the commercial quays and the Port Authorities ensuring all goes like clockwork. If there is any sign of a problem we hear their whistles blowing as the offending car, bus, person or ship is redirected!

Also the Poros water boat fills up with spring water in the bay and takes it to nearby places that are not on mains water.

During the last few days Fae has been having toothache. Health problems are a real concern for live aboards. She went ashore this morning to find out if there was an English speaking dentist in Poros. Next thing I know she returns less offending tooth! It had been a close decision whether her dentist in London removed it last December. She went into the laundry on the quay side and while asking about their services mentioned her tooth problem. The proprietor immediately offered to take her to the very dentist who had recently removed four teeth for his very concerned wife. So, off they went on his moped, he waited while Fae was dealt with and she returned 20 minuets later minus tooth. The cost was £11.50. We doubted if it was possible to get it done so quickly or at say less than three times the cost in the UK on the National health or five times if you went privately to ease the pain quickly! I went over and thanked our laundry man and was pleased to show our appreciation with a bottle of very good Greek wine from the ships stores. He was reluctant to take anything but I insisted.
