So the weeks have passed as Tirla cruised the islands of the Northern Sporades. We have accumulated much local knowledge either from other yachts or personal experience. The time spent here has been exceptionally pleasant. There were only a few thunderstorms, two gales and plenty of balmy days. The islands provide much shelter from the prevailing winds giving the possibility of quiet anchorages, so long as the forecast is correct, no matter what the wind does. We have seen some beautiful sights, not the least of which were huge shoals of one meter size tuna hunting smaller fish in a frenzy of swirling foam and activity. Also the roar of a large sealion bull in an isolated cove at midnight!

Soon the time is coming when we will set off south. I have spent this morning reviewing the options and Fae and I feel we will head SE on the prevailing Norther'lys for Nisos Psara, then Tinos to Poros. We are doing this to get south before the worst of the Meltimi builds up. Our new cruising area will be based around Porta Helli till we cross the southern Aegean to Turkey and our winter berth at Park Kemer Marine, Anatalyia.
