Above is a view of Preveza from Tirla ashore at Aktion with the mountains in the background. Just visible in the right middle of the picture is one of the ferries that for 90 Drac get you across the estuary. On the right is a floating crane used in the building of the Preveza tunnel, which will carry the road traffic under the river.

Steve Turner is here from the UK to "mastermind" and oversee the "keel shoes" we are adding to prepare the boat for any eventuality such as a heavy grounding. The current keel comes down to a very thin 25mm and we want to double the footprint in order to deal with any excess loads when hauling out or beaching. Steve is probably the most experienced Wharram builder having professionally built over forty of them from 21 foot to 46 foot. He is also a qualified marine surveyor. We feel he will have "top and tailed" Tirla having also redesigned our new Tiki rig back in 1998. Work continues to go well. We still hope to launch in ten days time. The weather is slowly getting warmer and no more sleet and hail as there was the day we arrived. The fig tree I can see, from the window in the shower block, is now in full leaf. Next door a bird has nested in the exhaust pipe of a yacht. A few more people have arrived to fit out their boats but it's still very early days yet. We are now settling into and enjoying our Greek routine and diet! However the call of the sea gets stronger and we are very keen to be away and afloat.
