Above you see the stage where the hardwood strip is resting on the old keel. The load from the extra width is transferred to the hull by an epoxy fillet. (the white material). Next came three layers of glass and epoxy, wrapped round the hard wood over the fillet and up to the area where we had ground back the hull. This was then ground back, filled and then fine sanded to get an even surface. After that the new stainless steel band was added to the bottom. The whole area was then epoxy primed and antifouled ready for launching. Not much work if you say it quickly!
