The above chart is the type of information we can down load from internet if the boat is in portable phone contact. Athens University is a very good source for Greek weather and provides 12,24,36,48,72 hour predictions. The "key" is the hotter the colour the stronger the winds. This chart shows winds in the mid Aegean area of force nine. Not a pretty picture for those on this bit of water!

I went to bed at 04.30 after Fae joined me to set a third anchor with the dinghy. This helped to steady us a lot. Up at 07.30 hrs with the swell a little better as the wind had gone round more to the north. Large waves are now crashing onto the harbour mole rather than entering the harbour area. Our web weather predictions say we will miss the worst and that by midnight tonight the wind should begin to decrease. Only twenty miles to the east it is blowing force nine.

Ashore May Day celebrations are in hand and the large stern trawlers are in port as from now through the summer they are not allowed to work to ensure the local fish stocks have a chance to be replenished.

10.30 hrs I helped another French boat lay a second anchor, he did not have a dinghy down, and we were invited aboard for a drink and spent a pleasant hour talking of boats and life in general.
