We heard by text message from some friends aboard a boat further south that they are in 30 kts of wind riding at anchor in Korfos bay having just come through the Corinth Canal. (It appears the ship pilots strike on the Corinth Canal is because the company is being taken over by a non Greek company as EEC rules now allow).
By the end of the day I had emptied the main tank fuel filter and found no water or "bits". I reconnected both engines to the main tank and ran them for half an hour at various revs in and out of gear. They acted perfectly which is good but when something goes wrong I like to find the problem, identify it and then solve it. In this case all I'm still not sure what went wrong but it must have been something that ended up in both engines carburettors. This leaves me unsure of the engines till we have a real run at sea.
This evening the swell is reduced, many of the Greek inshore fishing boats have small posses of flowers attached to their masts in recognition of the May Day celebrations.
It's a cold night with a clear sky, the barometer is still at 1021.

The swell has got up again. The increased effect is partly due to the huge car ferry that is moored on the commercial quay, the waves are bouncing off it round to this side of the harbour. It's difficult to sleep with the motion and the creaks and groans, some from me!

In the above picture note the large stern trawlers and the waves breaking on the rocks just outside the
harbour.
