When we arrived the Lat Long position appeared to be on shore!! I had previously seen lots of plastic in the water. These items are often shopping bags or agricultural strips of material up to 100yds long in areas such as off Spain!

This bit of plastic went passed us today along with several other larger ones.

We slowed down to go in between the rocks unsure if we had it right. Fae stood on the bow and looked for rocks, I steered and watched the echo sounder. Two minutes into the run and the port engine stopped when in idle forward. I looked between the hulls and on its propeller was a large strip of black plastic. We carried on under the other engine as we were committed and would find it difficult to turn sharply round in the narrow channel. All was well. Tirla rode on into the semi lagoon area behind the island of Nisis Dhiaporos.

By 15.00 hrs we had temporally anchored Tirla and got the plastic off and restarted and tested the engine. All seems fine. Its good to have two!!

Tirla is now safely anchored to two fortress anchors and a stout rope round a pine tree ashore. One of the most attractive anchorages we have seen. We will stay here at least all tomorrow.

The areas of Khalkadiki that we have seen are obviously still very unspoilt. This is clearly due to communications being difficult. The airport is several hours away over the mountain and hills. With no sailing boats about we feel a little like explorers but many hundreds of yachts will have done this route before us.
